Discussing Birth Experiences

There are several ways you can go about this. Tips for discussing birth experiences - be as honest with yourself as you can. This is about you, not anyone else, so don't feel afraid to hold back to avoid offending someone. Ask questions - this ability to ask questions is a very valuable tool. Why did you do this, why did you feel this, what were your feelings when... and so on.

Purebirth Australia Forums

On our forums there is a private room called Dawn of Thought that is only accessible by approved members. If you have birth analysing to do, or birth processing that you would prefer to be private and not on the open Purebirth forums, you can contact us and ask for permission to join.

Joyous Birth Forums

Joyous Birth has the best birth trauma support I have seen. Women who have experienced birth rape or trauma have private access to the Housework forum. If you need this sort of support and processing, you can contact Janet via Joyous Birth here.

Unassisted Childbirth Forums

If you are after discussion with a large community of freebirthers, then Laura Shanley's forum is a good place to start.

Friends

You can invite a friend over to have a good birth discussion. Another option is to get together a group of women to discuss and process births and experiences.

Professionals

Midwives are lovely to talk to about birth preparation, thoughts and prior experiences. You may be able to find a supportive midwife to talk things through with. Be aware that not all midwives will support the choice to freebirth if that is what you intend to do.
