Unassisted, unhindered or pure pregnancy is a pregnancy where the
mother does not have prenatal care from a medical practitioner or
someone acting in the role of a caregiver.
There are varying levels of this, with some women preferring to
do nothing at all but listen to their bodies and instincts, eating
well, meeting their needs of food, water, rest, sleep, exercise
as is indicated by themselves.
Others may take the role of midwife
on themselves, checking their own blood pressure, weight, fetal
heart tones, fundal height, tests and such. Others may even see
a homebirth midwife not for prenatal care, but for emotional support
and positive reinforcement.
You are the best person there is, in charge of your own care regardless
of if you are receiving care from a care provider or not. Ultimately,
the responsibility for your own personal health and wellbeing falls
upon you solely and this does not change when you become pregnant!
The principals behind free pregnancies have a lot to do with trust,
belief structure, positive thinking, instinct and soul searching.
Any woman who chooses to have an UP will most likely find herself
on that path to self empowerment and ultimate trust in knowing her
body, being the first to know if something is wrong within herself.
Pregnancy! We should all enjoy it, not be plauged by morning sickness,
stress, worry, fear, testing, harrassment from others etc. Women
who have unassisted pregnancies have said many positive things about
it and escape all the tension of the routine check-ups and ultrasounds
that other women go through.
That is not to say that UP is a breeze!
For some, being pregnant can be difficult especially if they are
still breastfeeding a child or working in a job that does not leave
room for them to attend to their own needs at will.
There are many
reasons, and hopefully information in this section will help you
to find a way to ease the discomforts of your pregnancy if you're
one of those women.
