Lotus Birth Section

Lotus Birth, or Lotus Transition is the ritual of birthing your baby and his/her placenta, keeping them together until the cord falls off or is pulled off.

There is no cord clamping nor cutting involved in a lotus birth, no forced seperation of baby & placenta before the baby is ready to move on.

Many mothers and babies find that this lotus transition slows down life in the first week after birth, allowing for establishment of breastfeeding, bonding, and recovery.

Lotus Birth also gives the baby time to adjust to life outside the womb with the familiar cord and placenta close by. Some babies love holding onto their cords or playing with it using their feet - just like they did inside the womb.

A benefit of lotus birth is that it can be used as an excuse to deter visitors and interruptions to the household in the first week after birth. It gives the family a small seclusion period to get used to each other.
