Coping With Exhaustion
Get plenty of nourishment, fluids, and slow burning protein foods towards the end of your pregnancy as well as sleep when needed.
When early labour starts, understandably most women are excited at the prospect of soon holding their child. If labour does not take all of your attention, try sleeping, resting or relaxing. Find something easy to do like read a book, watch a movie, do a puzzle with your other children.
Chewing on Ginger root or drinking wild ginger tea helps to maintain your energy levels. Stop when you think birth is close as ginger increases circulation which may increase the risk of PPH.
Chewing on Ginseng root throughout labour is also effective.
Organise good support people to help out during your labour. Let them do the housework, the child caring, the errands or helping you with your requests for water or hot towels etc. Don't worry about anything yourself other than enjoying your birth.
Drink gatorade, water, herbal teas, hot chocolate, etc during labour.
It is possible for some women to doze or sleep periodically in labour, find a position that supports you comfortably and sleep as best as you can.
Kali Phos 200C homeopathic pellets are very useful for labour related exhaustion or moments of low energy. Take 4 pellets between contractions as needed. The usual interval for taking homeopathic remedies is every 15 minutes. Support people present at your birth can also take it if they are feeling worn out.
