Bleeding During Labour

Bleeding during labour does not necessarily mean there is a threatening problem, but it is one of the indicators that something could be wrong - placenta previa or an abruption of the placenta etc.

Slow haemorrhages are dangerous as women do not realise how severe the blood loss is until they start to feel its effects and experience problems.

The mother is the best person to make the judgement on what to do. See When To Transfer.

What You Can Do At Home

Bleeding during labour is scary because of concern for the well-being of the baby as well as the mother. Monitor both the mother and baby and seek out medical treatment if the mother feels it is warranted.

Take witch hazel bark tincture in water or 20 drops of the tincture under the tongue, repeating as needed to control the bleeding until you can give birth. Rescue remedy will help to keep calm and in touch with your body. Visualise positive results.

Placentas have handled a loss of function before and still been able to support their babies to birth, but if you feel that assistance is warranted, do not hesitate to seek it out!
